Hello Laxers,

A couple of quick reminders for the first week of the season:

• Games that are slated to start at 6PM must do so PROMPTLY and get done in enough time to allow the 7PM games to start as planned.  All players, coaches and referees must make every effort possible to be at the game site at least 30 minutes prior to the starting whistle, begin their play on time and show respect for the players/coaches in the later games by wrapping things up BEFORE 7PM.  We have already had several 7PM games cut short by 10-15 minutes due to diminishing daylight, in many cases as a direct result of the 6PM games not starting on time and going the full 50 minutes.  Laura McCarthy has communicated this issue to the youth referees and asked that they too help speed things along, but it is the primary responsibility of the host towns to be well organized and ensure that this happens, cutting the 6PM game short if necessary.  Thank you for your attention and appreciation!

• If during the game there is a four (4) goal differential, please be reminded that the team awarded the ball at the center is starting from an INDIRECT position and cannot go straight to goal and shoot.  The referees will set this up like it is a minor foul and say INDIRECT before blowing the whistle to start play.  More information on this topic can be found in your US Lacrosse Rule Book, which you all should have handy!

Enjoy the good weather and keep things positive out there for our girls.

Lax on,
Mark Coan
