Greetings all,
There continues to be some confusion as to what exactly is involved with the USL Level 1 Certification process. Here, again, is the 4-1-1:
STEP 1
Take all three (3) courses in the Coaching Education Program (CEP): Complete your educational components (EC's):
· CEP Level 1 on-line course is completed * (FREE)
· CEP Level 1 Instructional Clinic is completed * ($65 – standard cost) For the upcoming two (2) clinics in Mountain Lakes and Gillette, the NJJGLL is subsidizing $45 of this cost. We may not be able to provide this same level of discounting in the future so please sign up now and get this done in 2011!
· PCA Double Goal Coach 1 course - Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons - is completed on-line or at a live workshop (www.positivecoach.org). Online access is provided free with your 2011 Level 1clinic registration - please check your confirmation e-mail. Or, enter code USLax2011 at the PCA web site for a 20% USL member discount.
• These components may be completed in any order you wish. Just make sure you keep copies of your completion certificates to include in your coaching portfolio.
* Note: Attendance at a Level 1 instructional clinic or completion of the Level 1 online course does not "certify" a coach by US Lacrosse. The level 1 and 2 online courses and clinics allow coaches to earn certificates of completion. This information is also recorded in the US Lacrosse database. The earning of certificates does not, however, implicitly imply certification as defined by the national governing body, US Lacrosse. |
STEP 2
Easily apply online to certify and have your background check run
· Click here to begin the online certification process if you have satisfied all of the educational components listed above and submitted your CEP portfolio.
· Fill out the online application through US Lacrosse's secure certification and background screening portal. US Lacrosse will collect the needed information to run this state-of-the-art background check through National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI).
· For questions about the screening process, please read the certification FAQs.
· Read all the waivers and instructions carefully. You will be asked to pay the certification fee of $35 when you log-in. You will then be able to enter your background screening information.
· Please allow 4-6 weeks for NCSI to process your background check.

STEP 3
Get it: You are certified
· When your background check has been satisfactorily completed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and your initial certification card will be sent in the mail. Congrats!
Choose to renew your certification each year with your membership renewal, typically at the end of the month of September. Your certification will expire when your membership expires. After 3 or 4 years, participate in a continuing education opportunity if you chose not to move on to Level 2 certification.
